About Me

I'm Yufeng (George) Gao, a programmer and retro computing enthusiast with a particular interest in UNIX, MS-DOS, CP/M, filesystems and magnetic storage. Retro computing is just a hobby, though. I work full-time as a Linux kernel engineer and hold a computer science degree with a major in cybersecurity.

I also have strong interests in operating systems, embedded systems, compilers, and reverse engineering. Outside tech, I'm interested in modern history, woodworking and drawing. I also collect old coins, banknotes and stamps.

Believe it or not, I actually do touch grass. I have a garden and grow all kinds of fruits and veggies: tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, peanuts, onions, mint, cabbages, womboks, strawberries, pumpkins, papayas, sunflowers, fennel, carrots, radishes, peas, peppers, and watermelons... [well, not anymore, because the bushturkeys eventually found my garden and dug everything up].

I also spend a fair chunk of my holidays in the mountains and countryside. There's nothing better than enjoying beautiful scenery!

Did I mention I love pandas? They're sooooo cuuute!! Especially this one. Her name is Hehua (和花 - lit. peaceful flower):
